Kindergartners are singing seasonal songs, learning some Native American songs and drumbeats, and beginning to learn about high and low, loud and soft and steady beat.

1st graders are learning to read and write rhythms. They also enjoy seasonal songs and games.

2nd graders continue to learn songs in different languages  and play xylophones.  They have been listening to and responding to music by Vivaldi.

3rd Graders were hoping to have a guitar unit this fall, but we were switched to the staff lounge for music classes.  So instead we are singing and learning rhythms.  We when return to the music room we will get on guitars then!

4th graders are playing recorders and composing.  They are learning a classic Japanese song.

5th graders are learning to compose in different forms including a very interesting for called: Crab Canon.

Spring Concert Dates musical notes
Please save these concert dates: 3rd and 4th grade concert will be on March 17 at 6:30 pm.
5th grade culminating  concert will be on in the BVE gym  on June 9, at 6:30 pm.
1st grade and 2nd grade concert will be on April 14, during the day, in the BVE gym at 2:15 pm.
Ode to Composer contest

 

Fifth grade Students memorize 52 random composers names and sing them to the tune of Beethoven's Ode to Joy.  They earn a token and get their names on a poster.  The class that has the highest percentage of students who have memorized this song, will earn a donut party.  This happens in the winter.
